Before starting:
Work only on a cleared firearm with the lower receiver separated from the upper.
Using the correct screwdriver bit, remove the pistol grip. Keep track of the detent and spring—they’re easy to lose and required for reassembly.
If you don’t already have a rounded detent, lightly smooth the point using a file, then finish with 400+ grit sandpaper.
Use a punch to push out the hammer pin (right to left recommended) and remove the hammer. Repeat for the trigger assembly, keeping a hand over the top so springs don’t launch. Set aside pins and small parts so they aren’t misplaced.
Remove the trigger and disconnector springs from the original trigger. If you have the trimming jig, now is when you’d modify the existing trigger. Otherwise, install the springs onto the new trigger the same way they were originally oriented.
Your lower receiver should now be empty and ready for Super Safety installation.
Installing Trigger, Cam, Lever, Detent & Grip
Reinstall the trigger assembly the same way it was removed—some users prefer a slave pin (or a trimmed cotton swab stick) to keep the disconnector aligned. Insert the trigger pin right to left until flush, short cut on the left side.
Install the hammer with the legs resting on the trigger pin cutout, and insert the hammer pin the same direction.
Slide the included earbud cushion onto the Lever so it prevents rubbing against the receiver wall.
With the left side of the receiver visible, insert the Lever downward through the top. Align the Super Safety Cam so its internal cutout captures the Lever profile correctly—the taller end of the Lever should point rearward.
Hold the Cam centered while reinstalling the rounded detent, spring, and grip. Insert the detent into the receiver, spring into the grip, then reinstall the grip while ensuring spring pressure contacts the detent.
Fit & Function Checks
Before reinstalling the upper:
  • Cock the hammer and rotate the Super Safety through all three positions
    — each should click firmly without excessive resistance.
  • With the hammer still cocked, gently move the Lever forward/backward
    — it should travel smoothly.
If movement feels tight:
  • Ensure trigger and Cam aren’t contacting or binding
  • Lightly sand the rounded trigger contact surface (400+ grit)
  • Lightly smooth Cam surfaces if necessary
  • Verify detent spring tension isn’t excessive
To reduce spring pressure:
Remove grip and spring, press detent with a punch, test movement. If improved, trim ¼–½ of a single coil only, then sand flat and reinstall.
Repeat checks until function is smooth.
Reattaching the Upper
Move the Lever fully forward so it clears the upper receiver during closure. Reattach the upper normally—there should be no resistance.
If interference occurs:
  • Confirm Lever is forward
  • Verify your BCG has adequate clearance
    — try another BCG or carefully remove minimal material from the contact point if necessary
